In the north of the island, the scenery is dominated with stunning views of mount Teide, which is an impressive snow capped white in the winter. Teide is the highest point in the whole of Spain.

Although Tenerife is officially part of Spain, it enjoys a substantial amount of autonomy from the mainland.

 

 

The Canary islands is part of a special economic zone, which as lower level of VAT on imported goods. The north of the island is much different to the south. It is more traditional, with the majority of Spanish living here. It is much greener and humid which puts it in start contrast with the barron south. It is no surprise that so many people from Europe have decided to relocate here or have a second home.
